Following a fire which destroyed Truffles Catering’s Brentwood Bay commercial kitchen facility, the business has found a temporary home in Sidney’s SHOAL Centre.
The announcement came from Beacon Community Services (BCS), which runs the SHOAL Centre.
Truffles will be moving in to provide temporary, six-month food services from the SHOAL Centre commercial kitchen while BCS addresses current staffing challenges and evaluates long-term food-service delivery options.
Food services at the SHOAL Centre are essential, as the facility serves assisted living residents, visitors as well as community programs and activities.
BCS says the arrangement with Truffles will ensure food services continue without interruption while future operating models for the kitchen are reviewed.
“The SHOAL kitchen is an important part of our operations and supports a wide range of services for residents and community members,” said Tricia Sexton-Earl, chief executive officer of BCS.
“This temporary arrangement provides stability while we address current staffing shortages and take the time needed to determine the most sustainable long-term approach for food service delivery.”
The temporary arrangement was approved by Sidney town council in the regular council meeting held on Monday, July 13th.
The fire at Truffles Catering’s previous facility was recently deemed not suspicious by Central Saanich officials.
