A Nanaimo-based massage therapist has been banned from treating patients who identify as female after an allegation of sexual abuse was made against him.
On March 19th, a complaint was made to the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC regarding Douglas Kropp, a massage therapist who practices in Nanaimo.
Because of this complaint of alleged sexual abuse, the College has initiated an investigation.
While the investigation is underway, a protection order has been issued to Kropp with several conditions that he must abide by.
Effective June 15th, Kropp may not treat any patient identifying as female, he must post on his booking websites that he cannot treat women, it must be posted in the waiting room of his practice that he cannot treat women and every Friday, he must allow the College access to his bookings calendar, along with the names and contact information of his patients.
The Investigative Committee stated that there were reasonable grounds to believe that Kropp’s continued, unrestricted practice posed a significant risk of harm to the public.
This order will stand while Kropp is investigated for the allegation against him.
