Another Phillips Backyarder has come and gone and this one was one for the books!

This year’s Phillips Backyard Music Festival featured one of the most celebrated lineups in recent years with both Friday and Sunday selling out entirely. 

Some of the most anticipated artists included Chance the Rapper, Modest Mouse, Father John Misty, Wolf Parade and Angine de Poitrine, who had nearly the whole crowd clad in polka-dots and mesmerized by the alien performance. 

This year saw a few notable improvements to the backyard experience.

The Music BC Stage was named the Dylan Willows Stage in honour of the beloved radio host, and the stage itself was much bigger than in years past. 

The main stage had a camera crew assigned to it with a screen offset to the right allowing for better visibility of the performances for those in the back of the audience. 

There was also a grandstand to accommodate people who didn’t want to squeeze right up into the action. 

Another new feature was the glam station hosted by Phillips where people could have their face painted or add a splash of glitter to their faces. 

As for the music itself, this weekend saw nearly every genre performed in Phillips Backyard, with some fun covers, guest appearances and moments attendees will not soon forget.
