Jordan Kealy, an Independent member of the BC legislative assembly, has been formally charged with sexual assault by the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS).
The sexual assault allegations date back to between January 1st and September 20th, 2024, before he won a seat in the October 2024 election.
The alleged sexual assault took place in Fort St. John.
Kealy represents Peace River North, and was initially elected as a member of the Conservative Party of BC before leaving the party after the election, calling the Conservatives “toxic” on social media.
Following the announcement of charges being laid, Kealy responded in a statement claiming he is not guilty.
“I am innocent of the accusation against me and will prove that in court,” he wrote in the statement.
“In the meantime, it will be business as usual, advocating for my constituents and region.”
Kealy’s first court appearance is set for July 6th at the Fort St. John Law Courts.
BCPS appointed special prosecutor Gail Barnes on February 9th following the investigation by the Prince George RCMP into the allegations against Kealy.
As these matters are now before the court, the BCPS will not be releasing additional information or commenting further at this time.
