‘Connection, curiosity and play’: New childcare centre coming to West Shore this fall

Beacon Community Services (BCS) just announced they will be opening a new childcare centre in the West Shore this September.

The centre will be called the Beacon Little Tides Early Learning Centre, and will offer full-time infant, toddler and preschool care for children from birth to age five.

Beacon Little Tides will be operated out of a building that is owned by Pacifica Housing at 612 Goldstream Avenue.

According to BCS, the centre will provide a welcoming, inclusive environment where children can explore, connect and grow.

Experienced educators will be staffed at the centre in order to provide a nature-inspired, play-based approach that supports children in building confidence and independence.

These educators will craft an emergent curriculum based on the children’s interests and curiosities to create learning experiences that are tailored to each individual child.

“We are excited to expand access to high-quality childcare in Langford,” said Donna Douglas, associate director of Childcare Services at BCS.

“Beacon Little Tides is thoughtfully designed to support children’s development through connection, curiosity and play, while offering families a trusted, nurturing environment.”

Ahead of the opening, BCS is holding an open house to allow members of the public to see the space on Saturday, June 27th between 10 a.m. and noon.

There, families will be taken on a tour, they will meet some of BCS’s childcare educators, learn more about programming and find out how to join the interest list for this coming September.

Concurrently with the open house, a waitlist for enrolment will open on June 27th.

There will be 12 spaces for children under three and 16 spaces for children aged three to five.

Once open, the centre will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
