Hump days are for good friends and good music!

Things are heating up in Victoria as we go through a stretch of hot weather. Get out and enjoy the sunshine while getting involved in the community!

You can feel the magic of summer in the air this Wednesday as Saanich Pride celebrates its fifth anniversary and Bonnie Raitt performs at the Royal Theatre.

If those aren’t your jam, try jamming with some jazz musicians at the Coda, making some new friends at Thetis Lake or challenging yourself to some pub trivia.

Without further ado, here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Wednesday, June 17th:

Bonnie Raitt is a singer, songwriter and guitarist whose unique style blends blues, R&B, rock and pop.

After 20 years as a cult favorite, she broke through to the top in the early 90s with her Grammy-award-winning albums Nick of Time and Luck of the Draw, which featured hits, “Something To Talk About” and “I Can’t Make You Love Me” among others.

The thirteen-time Grammy winner was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and Rolling Stone named the slide guitar ace one of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and one of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time.”

Saanich Pride in the Park at Beckwith Park

Head down to Beckwith Park and celebrate the fifth annual Saanich Pride in the Park event.

The celebration will feature a variety of entertainment, games, activities, info booths, inflatables and food trucks on site.

This family-friendly event is a great way for all people of all ages to show support and to celebrate Pride Month.

Wear your Pride colours and celebrate with the community!

This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.

Sit With Us Picnic Pop-Up at Thetis Lake

Gatherly is hosting a series of free community picnic pop-ups across Greater Victoria!

These are casual, low-pressure gatherings designed to help people connect with others in their community, meet new friends and spend time together!

The latest picnic will take place at Thetis Lake. Make sure to follow Gatherly on Instagram for a more specific location!

Come solo, or bring a friend! No sign-up is required.

Victoria Jazz Jam Session 12 at the Coda

Victoria’s jazz community comes alive once a month at The Coda’s Jazz Jam, hosted by the incredible Tom Vickery Trio.

Whether you’re a seasoned player, a student finding your voice, or a jazz lover who simply enjoys great music, this is your chance to be part of one of Victoria’s most vibrant musical gatherings.

Musicians are invited to bring their instruments, sign up and join the house band and fellow players for an evening of jazz standards, spontaneous creativity and unforgettable musical moments.

Every jam is different, bringing together performers from across generations and experience levels in the true spirit of jazz.

Not a musician? Grab a ticket, settle in with a drink and enjoy a front-row seat to the magic as some of Victoria’s finest players, emerging talents and surprise guests create music together in real time.

SixtyWatt Trivia at Christie’s Carriage Pub

Head down to the Monkey Tree Pub for their weekly pub trivia in partnership with SixtyWatt Trivia!

These events are always a riot.

SixtyWatt is a Victoria-based trivia company that is known as the “Mr. Fix it” of quiet pub nights.

They specialize in sarcasm, banter and some pretty great one liners that you may in fact want to write home about.

With four fun rounds, each team has a chance to rake in the prizes.

Trivia is free to play, but SixtyWatt does ask that you support the venue and purchase some food or beverages.

Be sure to show up early, these nights are busy!
