A popular Vancouver-born brunch spot is finally making its way to Vancouver Island.
Yolks is set to open at The Village at Stlilnup in Nanaimo in summer 2026 as one of the development’s first tenants.
The chef-driven breakfast and brunch concept first launched as a food truck in 2012 by Steve Ewing and has since grown into a well-known brand with multiple locations across Canada.
The upcoming Nanaimo spot will mark Yolks’ first-ever location on Vancouver Island.
The new restaurant is expected to seat more than 100 guests, with both indoor dining and a patio overlooking the oceanfront village near the Departure Bay ferry terminal.
Yolks says it has built a strong following for its elevated take on classic brunch dishes, with a focus on scratch-made ingredients. Everything from sauces to hollandaise is made fresh daily, using Canadian-sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Ewing said the team is looking forward to becoming part of the local community and bringing its take on brunch to the Island.
The restaurant will be part of a larger waterfront development led by Snuneymuxw First Nation and its economic development arm, Petroglyph Development Group.
The Village at stlilnup is an oceanfront development near the Departure Bay ferry terminal, located on land connected to the historic Snuneymuxw village of the same name.
Petroglyph Development Group CEO Ian Simpson said Yolks stood out as a strong fit for the space, pointing to its focus on quality food and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
More tenants and details about the development are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
