A new driver in the West Shore is going to be taking a forced break from cruising around after allegedly being caught doing donuts in a gravel parking lot near Langford Parkway.
According to the West Shore RCMP, an officer spotted a pickup truck spinning donuts on Thursday.
Police say the driver, who had an N licence, was issued a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention, along with a $109 ticket for driving contrary to licence restrictions after allegedly having too many passengers in the vehicle.
The driver was also ticketed $109 for failing to have a driver-side mirror. The pickup truck was impounded for seven days for stunt driving.
RCMP also issued the vehicle a Notice and Order requiring a full mechanical inspection because of safety concerns.
“Doing donuts may seem fun — until it comes with tickets and a 7-day impound,” police said in a social media post.
Police are reminding drivers that risky behaviour behind the wheel can carry serious consequences, especially for newer drivers still under graduated licensing restrictions.
