Happy Tuesday, Victoria!
Tuesdays get a bad rap, but we’re here to change that. There’s always something fun going on in Victoria to get you through those early week blues, and we’ve compiled a list of some of those events.
Whether you want to catch a locally-made film at an independent theatre or hit the Mary Winspear Centre for a concert from acclaimed musicians from out East, there’s plenty for you to get up to this Tuesday.
Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Tuesday, May 12th:
Vancouver Island Film Blue Heron at the Vic Theatre
Filmed on Vancouver Island, Blue Heron is a film that comes from writer and director Sophy Romvari.
The film is also set on Vancouver Island, and features a family of six settling into their new home as internal dynamics are revealed through the eyes of the youngest child.
Blue Heron is a reflection on Romvari’s past, and she weaves her own life experiences into the story.
The film will be playing May 12th and 13th. Tickets are $14.29 plus a service fee and can be purchased here.

Fortunate Ones is a contemporary folk duo from Newfoundland who are also incredibly accomplished, with the title track of their Sophomore album Hold Fast hitting number one on the CBC Music Top 20 Chart.
Longtime fans of each other, Royal Wood and Fortunate Ones are tired of being touring ships passing in the night.
Both are musical miners of the heart, so they decided to call this The Have a Heart Tour.
It’s been a long time coming, but well worth the wait!

One of the country’s preeminent humor writers, beloved for his personal essays and short stories, Sedaris writes in a style both autobiographical and self-deprecating, ruminating on family life, his middle-class, suburban upbringing, homosexuality, drug use and obsessive behaviours.
Several of his books have graced national bestseller lists, including Calypso, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim; his latest book Happy-Go-Lucky was published last May by Little, Brown and Company.
David will sign books for patrons after the show.
