Three drivers were taken off West Shore roads over the weekend as police continued enforcement efforts targeting impaired driving.

According to the West Shore RCMP, officers from the traffic unit and frontline patrol responded to several incidents between April 18th and April 19th.

In one case, police were called to a single-vehicle crash around 1:54 a.m. on April 18th near the intersection of Sooke Road and Kelly Road in Colwood.

Officers found a black Toyota Tacoma with significant front-end damage after it struck a power pole.

The driver, a 47-year-old man, was investigated for impaired driving after showing signs of alcohol impairment. He was issued a 90-day driving ban and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

In separate incidents in Langford, officers issued another 90-day driving ban and a 12-hour prohibition during unrelated impaired driving investigations.

Police also conducted a roadblock on Admirals Road in View Royal, where more than 100 drivers were checked for sobriety. Officers issued four Notice and Orders along with six written warnings for other infractions.

Police say enforcement efforts will continue and are reminding drivers to arrange safe transportation if they plan to consume alcohol.

Anyone who witnesses dangerous or impaired driving is asked to report it to police.
