Section of Galloping Goose trail near Six Mile Road to be closed for six weeks

Share

The Capital Regional District (CRD) just announced that a stretch of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail will be closed for approximately six weeks.

The stretch of trail immediately to the east and west of Six Mile Road will be impacted, as well as the Atkins Park and Ride in View Royal.

This closure comes as the Ministry of Transportation begins the Six Mile Road Replacement Project.

The project scope involves replacing the existing structure to improve safety.

According to the CRD, there will be a trail detour in place for all pedestrians and cyclists that use the trail throughout the duration of the project.

Equipment for this endeavour that is currently stored at the Atkins Park and Ride will be walked westward up the trail to the project area.

The CRD says that traffic control personnel will be on site for the first four days while equipment is moved.

Those using the Galloping Goose should note that there will be intermittent delays while crews move the equipment.

Work on this project will begin on Monday, March 2nd. As the project is estimated to take at least six weeks to complete, it should be completed by mid-April.
