Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a missing person report involving an adult man who left his residence on Sunday and has not been seen since.

Police say officers conducted checks at several locations the man was known to frequent and asked partner agencies to be on the lookout for his vehicle.

Later that evening on February 9th, his vehicle was located aboard a BC Ferries vessel at the Tsawwassen terminal.

A review of onboard video showed a person matching the man’s description entering the water while the vessel was underway.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, along with RCMP West Coast Marine Services, initiated a search of the surrounding area.

Nanaimo RCMP have conduct of the investigation and are coordinating with Delta Police Department, Gabriola RCMP, BC Ferries, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, and RCMP West Coast Marine Services.

Police say family members have been advised of the developments and the search remains ongoing.

No further details are being released at this time.
