Saanich Police have arrested two suspects from the mainland who are believed to be responsible for a series of break-ins and thefts.
These break-and-enters resulted in tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of property being stolen.
Investigators say they believe the two intentionally travelled to the capital region from the lower mainland numerous times with the sole purpose of committing break-and-enters.
Police say they have been linked to multiple incidents in Saanich and are suspects in additional break-ins throughout the Capital Regional District (CRD).
The two suspects have been identified by police as David Robert Mason and Kyle Leonard Tournier.
Mason and Tournier allegedly stole laptops, tablets, tools and various other items from homes and businesses throughout the region, took them back to the mainland and listed them for sale online.
Police say they were notified by one of the theft victims who reported seeing their property for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Investigators then identified and arrested Mason and Tournier from the short-term rental they were staying at.
While searching the suspects’ short-term rental accommodation a large quantity of stolen property was identified and recovered.
According to Saanich Police, there are still additional stolen items that were unaccounted for and remain outstanding.
Police say the next step for investigators is to find out if the suspects had other short-term rental accommodations where stolen goods are being kept.
