West Shore RCMP are asking the public’s help in identifying the driver and truck involved in a pedestrian hit-and-run.

The collision occurred in Langford on January 16th at approximately 5:36 p.m., at the intersection of Langford Parkway and Phipps Road.

Dashcam footage reviewed by police revealed a 40-year-old male pedestrian walking eastbound across Phipps Road at the intersection when he was struck by a white pickup truck.

The truck was driving north on Phipps Road and ran through a red light at the intersection.

The pedestrian sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are now looking to identifying both the suspect and the vehicle, which is described as a two door white pickup truck with a black canopy.

It was last seen travelling northbound on Phipps Road near Langford Parkway.

“After reviewing the footage, investigators believe it is highly unlikely that the suspect driver in this situation did not know that they hit a pedestrian,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer for West Shore RCMP.

“We ask that anyone with information regarding who the driver is to come forward.”

This incident follows a concerning trend highlighted earlier this week by VicPD, which reported that a pedestrian or cyclist has been hit every day so far this year.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information that could help identify the driver or truck involved in this hit-and-run is asked to contact West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
