Victoria Butterfly Gardens is partnering with PaRx, Canada’s national nature healing prescription program, to bring nature-based healing to Victorians.
Starting January 19th, PaRx prescription holders can receive 50% off admission or buy-one-get-one free admission when visiting the Gardens.
Launched in 2020 by BC Parks Foundation, PaRx allows Canadian healthcare providers to prescribe time in nature to support physical and mental health.
This initiative is based on research revealing that even spending a few hours every week outdoors improves your wellbeing.
Since its launch, PaRx has prescribed an estimated 1.5 million nature prescriptions, and has partnered with dozens of Canadian health providers and businesses including UBC Botanical Gardens and Vancouver Art Gallery.
“Nature has a way of pulling you back to ground level,” said Travis, Lead Horticulturalist at Victoria Butterfly Gardens.
“It reminds you that change is constant, that growth doesn’t follow rigid rules, and that it often happens quietly, over time.”
The Gardens offers visitors an 11,000 square feet of tropical oasis with over 75 butterfly species and a variety of tropical plants and rescued animals.
“Visitors feel calmer, more present, and more open to connection when surrounded by the Gardens’ vibrant plants and wildlife,” he said.
Victoria Butterfly Gardens now joins the growing network of PaRx partners across Canada, helping make nature more accessible to Victorians.
