A 65-year-old Nanaimo woman who was reported missing in mid-November was located the same day deceased, but police have not shared this for nearly a month.
In a media release, Nanaimo RCMP say the woman who was reported missing last month was found dead, and investigators now believe she was the victim of a homicide.
Sherry Shelley was reported missing on November 14th and until now, police had not shared that she had been located. Her disappearance was being treated as suspicious.
In an update by police, it was revealed that in the early hours of that same morning, officers were called to a vehicle fire in a wooded area on College Drive near the Highway 19 intersection.

Shelley was found dead at the scene and the Nanaimo RCMP Serious Crime Unit took over the investigation.
Police say they are working to determine what happened and are urging the public to help by reviewing any video that may show Shelley’s vehicle.
Investigators are looking for footage of a white Volkswagen Tiguan with BC licence plate WN701L. They are asking residents and drivers to check security and dash cameras for the time period between 11 p.m. on November 13th and 3 a.m. on November 14th.
The routes police are focusing on include the Parkway from the Doumont area to College Drive, Jingle Pot Road from the Doumont area to College Drive, and Harwood Road in Lantzville along Old Logging Road to Vipond Road.
Earlier in the search, RCMP said Shelley may have been in the area between Walmart and Old Logging Road off Ware Road in Lantzville the night before she disappeared.
