The mother of Lindsay Buziak, who was murdered in Saanich back in 2008, has posted a video online in which she calls for renewed attention on her daughter’s case.
On November 2nd, Lindsay would have celebrated her 42nd birthday, but sadly, the up-and-coming real estate agent had her life cut short at 24-years-old when she was murdered.
Lindsay died while showing a home to a couple of prospective buyers, though she was apprehensive about the showing due to the bizarre nature of how the clients contacted her.
She shared her concerns with her boyfriend at the time, who arrived with a colleague shortly after the showing was scheduled to begin.
The couple Linsday showed the house to ultimately fled, and her body was found by her boyfriend. She had been stabbed multiple times.
Now, her mother is calling attention to the still-unsolved case
“February 2nd will mark the 18th year since her horrific murder, another year without closure, without knowing who or why, another year that those responsible walk free,” said Evelyn Buziak, Lindsay’s mother.
“I was recently informed that the active investigation had come to an end and that the detectives assigned were being transferred to different departments—it was a decision based on resources.”
Evelyn added that this news has been devastating.
“Even though the years passed without answers, at least with it being an active investigation I had hope that one day justice would be served,” she continued.
“I’m frustrated and desperately seeking answers.”
She said her video was made out of frustration and desperation, to try to stoke a renewed commitment from Saanich Police to solve her daughter’s case, along with a plea to anyone who has information on the matter to come forward.
According to Evelyn, there are people who may have additional evidence which could lead to the investigation progressing, but those individuals are not coming forward because they don’t want to get involved.
Though Evelyn says that she was informed the investigation is no longer active, Saanich Police say that the investigation is in fact active and ongoing.
“We recognize the continued public interest and emotional impact this case has had on Lindsay’s family, friends, and the broader community,” said Insp. Drew Robertson, OIC Detective Division, Saanich Police.
“Detectives and members of our senior leadership team are in regular contact with Lindsay’ parents to ensure they are updated on the case.”
Police say that it is standard practice for investigators to be reassigned in prolonged investigations such as this one, but this does not reflect a change in the status or priority of a case.
Insp. Robertson urges anyone with information regarding Lindsay Buziak’s death to contact Saanich Police at (250) 475-4321.
