Put those pinkies up, Victoria!

Victoria’s tea lovers have something to celebrate this fall. The Victoria Tea Festival Revival will mark its 10th anniversary on Saturday, October 4th.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nootka Court at 633 Courtney Street will become a lively meeting spot for tea fans, farmers, and curious newcomers.

The festival, organized by the International Tea Appreciation Society (ITAS), is run by volunteers dedicated to sharing the art, history, and enjoyment of tea.

This year’s milestone event will again provide a grassroots farm-to-cup experience in downtown. Visitors can expect the Tea Fair, a marketplace featuring tastings and demonstrations from educators across Vancouver Island, Vancouver, and beyond.

The popular symposium is also back, offering expert talks on Japanese tea traditions, Rooibos processing, the art of Kintsugi, and even tips on growing your own tea.

Longtime tea educators Jen and Jared Nyberg will host these sessions, which will also be live-streamed on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person.

The World Tea Championship, now in its fourth year, will have participants competing in Gongfu tea-making.

Those in attendance can also visit the Rare and Antique Teaware Gallery, showcasing brewing pieces that are centuries old, including teapots over 400 years old.

Live music and food will enhance the vibrant community atmosphere throughout the day.

“This festival celebrates those who drink tea and want to enrich their lives, along with those who want to improve their tea-making skills,” said Jared Nyberg, a representative of ITAS.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own teacup, although a limited number will be available by donation at the entrance. Admission is by suggested donation of $15 to $25, with proceeds benefiting the International Tea Appreciation Society. Tickets can be bought online or at the door.

The Victoria Tea Festival Revival takes place on Saturday, October 4th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside Nootka Court in downtown Victoria.
