Pacific FC, Vancouver Island’s largest soccer club, might soon have new owners.
SixFive Sports & Entertainment, the group that introduced professional soccer to Langford in 2018, announced that it is considering selling the Canadian Premier League (CPL) team.
This decision comes as soccer in Canada is about to receive a significant boost from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will partially take place in Vancouver.
SixFive believes now is the right time for new investors to come in and support Pacific FC in its next phase of growth.
“From day one, we believed Pacific FC could be something special,” said Josh Simpson, SixFive co-founder and Pacific FC president.
“What we’ve built with the community, players, staff, and supporters has surpassed our hopes. With a strong foundation now in place, it’s time for a new group to lead the club into its next chapter.”
The club will continue to operate normally while the sale process takes place. SixFive will retain ownership of its other CPL franchise, Vancouver FC.
Since joining the league in 2019, Pacific has been a steady presence in the Canadian Premier League. The team won its first championship in 2021 and reached the semifinals of the Canadian Championship two times against Major League Soccer opponents Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Its fan base has grown consistently, with an average of nearly 3,000 spectators at Starlight Stadium this season and a recent turnout of 4,390 at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.
On the field, this year has been more challenging. Pacific has a record of 5-12-6 as it heads into Saturday’s away game against the Halifax Wanderers. Its streak of five consecutive playoff appearances is at risk.
Simpson stressed that no matter who takes over, fans will remain at the core of the club’s identity.
“Our supporters are the heartbeat of Pacific,” he said.
“This process is about making sure the club remains competitive, community-driven and built for long-term success.”
