Investigators have confirmed that human remains found in a Maple Ridge home last month belong to missing woman Jessica Cunningham, who was originally from Victoria.
The 43-year-old was last seen in June and reported missing in July.
On August 26th, Ridge Meadows RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) were on scene at a residence in the 22800-block of Gillis Place in Maple Ridge as part of the missing person investigation.
Human remains were located at that time.
The following day, August 27th, the BC Prosecution Service charged Cunningham’s partner, Mylie Barron, with indignity to human remains.
He was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. Barron is originally from Esquimalt.

Cunningham’s disappearance drew public attention in August after Ridge Meadows RCMP issued a public appeal for information, citing concern for her health and well-being.
On Monday, IHIT confirmed the remains are those of Cunningham.
“Investigators continue to work to understand the circumstances that led to Jessica’s death,” said Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi, IHIT media relations officer.
“Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones.”
IHIT continues to work with Ridge Meadows RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services, and the BC Coroners Service.
Court records show Barron was denied interim bail and is scheduled to appear in Port Coquitlam court on September 26th for a bail hearing. A publication ban remains in place on evidence expected to be presented.
