BC Highway Patrol are asking for the public’s help as they continue investigating a fatal crash that took place in Fanny Bay in late July.

Just after 4 p.m. on July 31st, a black 2015 GMC Sierra Denali pickup truck towing a white Minilite RV collided with multiple vehicles along the northbound side of Highway 19A.

A man who was standing at the side of the road was killed.

The driver of the Denali was arrested at the scene for impaired driving causing death.

Investigators are now searching for anyone who may have seen the black pickup, which is described as having a black canopy, leading up to the incident.

“If you interacted with the driver of a black GMC Sierra Denali pickup with a black canopy, or you saw that driver doing anything concerning in the hours leading up to the fatal crash, you need to speak to police,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol.

Police are especially interested in hearing from anyone who saw the truck and trailer between the Fanny Bay Wharf and the Rosewall log sort on the afternoon of July 31st.

They’re also asking drivers with dash cam footage or businesses with security video facing that stretch of highway to review their recordings.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol – Campbell River at 250-286-5690 and reference file 7001-2025-1582.
