This year marks the 39th annual Victoria Fringe Festival, which hits the city on Wednesday, August 20th and runs until Sunday, August 31st.
That’s 12 days with 150 performances from 35 local, national and international artists across nine different venues—featuring five traditional stages and four unconventional spaces.
The Fringe always brings a burst of creative energy to the city’s atmosphere, and this year is no exception. There will be everything from dance and comedy to drama, spoken word and site-specific shows.

If you’re aching to get a Fringe Festival sneak peek, Market Square will be hosting a free Fringe Eve Preview on August 20th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’ll offer a glimpse at this year’s shows and guest performances.
Another free community event includes the FringeKids Fest in partnership with Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. over August 23rd and 24th.
August 31st marks the festival wrap-up, which will include the Pick of the Fringe awards at Hermann’s Jazz Club starting at 10 p.m., where standout shows of the season will be celebrated.

All tickets must be purchased in advance, either online or in person at the Intrepid Theatre box office. There’s also a one-time payment of $5 for your festival membership button, which is required to see shows.
Ticket prices are as follows:
- Single Tickets: $13 to $16
- 10-show Frequent Fringer: $124
- Five-show Munch Card pass: $74
- “Fringe on the House” accessible tickets are also offered
