West Shore RCMP have arrested a 50-year-old man after a routine traffic stop resulted in the seizure of weapons and drugs.
In the evening on August 17th, police were conducting routine patrols and flagged a GMC Yukon with a burnt out taillight, resulting in a traffic stop.
Upon pulling the vehicle over, police found open liquor and an impaired driving investigation was pursued.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized a small amount of suspected oxycontin pills, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a firearm and brass knuckles.
The driver was determined to be sober; however, due to what was discovered in the vehicle, he was arrested in relation to drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and a prohibited weapon.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were provided at this time.
The suspect was released on an ‘undertaking,’ which is a legally binding agreement to appear in an upcoming court date.
