Saanich Police have laid charges against three men after a firearm was discharged in the Gordon Head area earlier this week.
David Andrew, Amrit Singh, and Miguel Widmann have each been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police confirmed the men remain in custody while awaiting a bail hearing.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 26th, shortly before 10:30 p.m. Officers responded to reports of a shot fired near the intersection of Shelbourne Street and Torquay Drive, close to Torquay Village and Mount Doug Market.
According to police, a caller reported a brief encounter with people in a vehicle.
During the exchange, one occupant allegedly produced a handgun and fired a shot into the air before the vehicle left the scene.
As officers spoke with witnesses, the suspect vehicle returned to the area. Police conducted a stop and arrested the driver and occupants. A loaded handgun was later located nearby with the assistance of the Integrated Canine Service.
The Saanich Police Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. Investigators believe the incident was isolated and that there is no ongoing risk to the public.
