What a weekend for live music in Victoria!
After the Band of Skulls and Cold War Kids were in town to kick off Tilt at the Phillips Backyard, days two and three brought even more excitement.
On Thursday, Neil James of Astrocolor opened up with a DJ set before local legends Neighbourly got people dancing early.
Then, in a blast from the past, Steve Bays of Hot Hot Heat took the stage!
Once again, the BC Music stage provided additional music, which was welcomed with open arms and helped avoid any awkwardly long breaks between bands on the main stage. The first local act to play the BC Music stage was Dead Summer.
Next on the main stage was Young Friend, before Darrian Gerard could take over the BC Music Stage.
The big acts of Saturday night were Two Feet and Unknown Mortal Orchestra who wowed the crowd and put on phenomenal performances.
On Sunday, the closing day of the Phillips backyard until August, things got started a bit earlier with DJ Ronny setting the vibe until Poncho could take the main stage.
Then, one of the city’s best DJs, Murge took over the main stage and Kid Filthy got things started on the BC Music stage.
Another artist who made a triumphant return to the backyard this year was Haviah Mighty, who hasn’t performed at Phillips since 2019.
Following her, Ahsia performed on the BC Music stage and then the Snotty Nose Rez Kids put on one of their best performances in Victoria to date.
Bawah closed the BC Music stage before G-Eazy took on the main stage and really gave Victoria a show they will not likely forget anytime soon.
Next chance to get into the Phillips Backyard will be the weekend of August 8th to 10th, with Peach Pit, Phantogram and the Roots headlining the festival.
Tickets are available online if you don’t want to miss out!
