Oak Bay Police are investigating a possible prank-gone-wrong, which frightened residents who were barricaded inside their home.
Officers say they responded to a report of mischief in the 1800-block of Christie Way, where a large refrigerator was left blocking a home’s front door with graffiti referencing a countdown and inappropriate imagery.
According to police, this incident may be linked to a group of local teenagers who are reportedly involved in pranks.
“While the act may have been intended as a joke, police remind the public that such behaviour can have serious consequences and may constitute a criminal offence,” said Oak Bay Police in a media release.
Investigators have now referred the matter to the school liaison officer for follow-up with the teenagers suspected to be involved.
No further details were provided at this time.
