Langford residents will soon have access to the BCAA’s Evo Car Share Program to help those without a vehicle of their own access one when needed.
This expansion allows those living on the West Shore to have access to the 175 Evo cars already on the streets of Victoria.
Additionally, Evo’s ‘Home Zone’ will have expanded boundaries, meaning people can leave the vehicles in a broader territory without having to pay extra for it.
“As Langford grows, so does the need for flexible and environmentally responsible transportation,” said Mayor Scott Goodmanson.
“The introduction of Evo Car Share in Langford strengthens our partnership with BCAA and reinforces our commitment to innovative transportation solutions. These initiatives help meet our climate goals, reduce traffic congestion, and improve accessibility for all residents.”
The City of Langford says that there will be six Evo parking spots located in public parking lots along Station Avenue between Jacklin Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Additionally, there will be parking available for Evo vehicles on a section of Atkins Road between Veterans Memorial Parkway and approximately 636 Atkins Road.
These reserved spaces are meant to ensure there are dedicated spots available for Evos. If those spots happen to be full, Evo users can park in any available parking stall.
“We’re excited for Evo to continue working closely with the City of Langford, and to help give residents easier and more affordable ways to get around,” says Amitis Khorsandi, VP, Evo Car Share.
Those who want to give Evo a go now that the boundaries have been expanded need only to download the Evo app to their iOS or Android device.
Once signed up, users will also have access to e-bikes and e-scooters on the West Shore, as Langford recently launched their active transportation sharing initiative through Evo.
Langford’s e-bike and e-scooter sharing program was launched in June, with 75 e-bikes, and 75 e-scooters being distributed for use at 30 stations across the city.
Evo Car Share was launched by BCAA back in 2015, with an initial fleet of 250 vehicles in Vancouver before expanding to several other cities and regions throughout the west coast of BC and Vancouver Island.
