It was a fast and furious kind of evening for on the Saanich Peninusla earlier this week and not in a good way.
In a social media post, Central Saanich Police said they stopped nine drivers for excessive speeding on a residential stretch of Central Saanich Road during a targeted enforcement.
The crackdown took place north of Mount Newton Cross Road, where the posted speed limit is 50 km/h. Within just three hours, officers recorded vehicle speeds ranging from 75 km/h to a staggering 123 km/h—73 km/h over the limit.

The speeding enforcement was launched in response to safety concerns raised by residents in the area. Police say the incident highlights the value of community feedback in helping improve neighbourhood safety.
The Central Saanich Police Service is encouraging the public to continue reporting areas where they feel increased enforcement is needed.
