A new race is coming to Saanich this fall, offering a chance to connect with nature, move your body, and give back to the environment.

Tall Tree Health is launching the first-ever Tall Tree 10K on Sunday, September 7th at 10 a.m., inviting runners, walkers, and stroller-pushers of all paces to take part in a 10K loop around Elk and Beaver Lake.

According to organizers, the event is designed to be both accessible and inspiring, with a flat and fast course winding through forested lakeside trails.

Participants will enjoy the calming sounds of birdsong and footsteps on the path, with just one brief stretch near the highway.

“Movement in nature with friends and purpose. This is the good stuff,” said Devon Cochrane, CEO of Tall Tree Health. “Our ‘Run Tall. Plant Deep.’ mantra captures how this race blends community health with ecological restoration.”

Registration starts at $35, and includes chip timing, post-race snacks, a Tall Tree canvas tote, and a pair of Tall Tree x Outway performance socks. The event will be capped at 400 participants, and early registration is encouraged at talltreehealth.ca/talltree10k.

After crossing the finish line, participants can enjoy music from a live marimba band, cheer squads, and authentic Mexican food from Kattia’s Kitchen.

All proceeds from the event will support the Redd Fish Restoration Society, a local non-profit that works in partnership with nuučaanuł Nations to restore salmon habitats and protect ecosystems through science and Indigenous knowledge.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just looking for a beautiful way to spend a Sunday, the Tall Tree 10K offers a feel-good experience from start to finish.
