The City of Langford has officially launched a new e-bike and e-scooter program in an effort to bring more accessible, active transportation to its residents.
This program was launched in collaboration with BC-based Evolve, whose fleet of 150 e-bikes and e-scooters will be distributed throughout the community beginning today, Thursday June 19th.
Evolve is a subsidiary of Evo and the BCAA, and its e-bikes and e-scooters have been introduced into other municipalities, such as Nanaimo, beginning in May 2024.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Evolve’s e-bikes and e-scooters to Langford as part of our commitment to building a greener, more connected city,” added Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford.
“This initiative gives residents and visitors a fun, affordable, and sustainable way to move around our community. It’s another step forward in making Langford a leader in smart urban mobility and environmental stewardship.”
This program was introduced as a part of Langford’s council strategic plan, their forthcoming transportation master plan and the City’s active transportation master plan.
The e-bikes and e-scooters can be utilized by using the Evo app.
The rates for Evolve’s fleet in Langford will be $0.35 per minute, or $12.99 per hour. By purchasing a subscription for $9.99 per month, users’ rates will be reduced to just $0.10 per minute.
To celebrate the launch of Evolve’s e-bikes and e-scooters in Langford, BCAA has partnered with the Goldstream Food Bank to donate $1 from every ride taken between Thursday, June 19th and Thursday, July 31st.
