Downtown Victoria Urgent and Primary Care Centre to be closed this Sunday

Share

Island Health has issued an advisory to those who may require the services of the Downtown Victoria Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC), as it will be closed this Sunday, May 4th.

The reason for the closure to in-person visits is due to BC Hydro conducting a routine, planned power outage on the power grid the UPCC draws from.

According to BC Hydro, the power is being temporarily shut off at the Downtown Victoria UPCC to allow for a system upgrade.

Island Health advises patients who require medical assistance to call 1-833-688-8722 to inquire about booking an appointment at another Victoria-areaUPCC.

The James Bay, Gorge, Esquimalt, North Quadra and Westshore sites will all be open both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

To help deal with the uptick in the number of patients who will require medical assistance at other healthcare centres, the Downtown Victoria UPCC clinical staff will be re-deployed to other UPCCs to continue to support patient care.

Additionally, Island Health says that those who have booked virtual care appointments through the Downtown Victoria UPCC will not be affected.

The Downtown Victoria UPCC will resume normal operations on Monday, May 5th.
