Cougar sighting in Saanich prompts police to warn public to remain alert

A cougar has been roaming Saanich for the past week, but the predator’s latest sighting has prompted police to issue a warning for residents to remain vigilant. 

Saanich Police say they have received several reports this morning of a cougar roaming around the 4200 block of Cedar Hill Road. 

As of this publication, officers are in the area attempting to locate the animal and the BC Conservation Service have been notified.

Saanich Police are asking those outside in the area of Cedar Hill Road and Cedarglen Road to be alert and cautious.

Anyone who encounters a cougar is advised to walk away slowly while facing the animal, and to call 911 and the BC Conservation Service at 1-877-952-7277, when inside and safe.
