From the gridiron to the gin and juice—Snoop Dogg is heading to Vancouver.
The BC Lions have announced that rap icon Snoop Dogg will headline the team’s kickoff concert event ahead of their 2025 season opener at BC Place.
Set for Saturday, June 7th, the Lions will take on the Edmonton Elks following a live performance by Snoop inside Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place.
“I’m very excited to bring Snoop Dogg, one of the most entertaining and decorated rap performers of all-time, to Vancouver to help us begin our 71st season of Lions football,” said team owner Amar Doman in a release Tuesday morning.
Now in its third year, the Concert Kickoff has become a signature event on Vancouver’s summer sports calendar. Past performers include LL Cool J and 50 Cent, but this year’s headliner brings a new level of star power.
Snoop Dogg rose to fame with his debut album Doggystyle, the first of seven platinum records. He has been nominated for 20 Grammy Awards, won multiple BET and MTV Movie Awards, and most recently performed at the 2024 Olympic Closing Ceremony in Paris.
He also shared the stage with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and others at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show, which went on to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special.
Beyond music, Snoop is known for his work in film, business ventures in technology and cannabis, and philanthropic efforts, including his longstanding support of youth football.
Due to high demand for tickets to the June 7th home opener, Save-On-Foods and Molson Coors have removed their endzone tarps, making additional lower bowl seats available to new season ticket holders.
While this announcement centres around BC Place, Vancouver Island fans won’t have to wait long for some live Lions action.
The team’s pre-season game at Langford’s Starlight Stadium—scheduled for Victoria Day on Monday, May 19th, sold out in just 12 minutes, marking another record-setting response from Vancouver Island football fans.
With a sold-out crowd expected in Langford and a massive concert lined up in Vancouver, the BC Lions are set to make a statement both on and off the field as their 71st season gets underway.
