One of Victoria’s favourite pop-up vintage events is back—and for the last time at the Victoria Public Market.
The Granville Flea Market is set to take over the Victoria Public Market on Friday, April 18th, bringing together top vintage curators from across Vancouver Island and the mainland for a one-day shopping experience that’s part fashion hunt, part community hangout.
The market, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., is making its third annual stop in Victoria, with organizers expecting a strong turnout and a few surprise items up for grabs.
From late-night club nights to a west coast vintage phenomenon
The Granville Flea’s origin story is as cool as the pieces you’ll find at the market.
“It all started from a club night in Vancouver called Midnight Mondays at Fortune Sound Club,” said co-founder Cole Brownstone. “There was a vintage vendor spot each week, and it became a hit—people just loved shopping during the event.”
What began as a small vendor booth has grown into one of the biggest travelling vintage markets on the west coast. Alongside co-owners Josh Stevens and Riaz Khan, the Granville Flea has popped up in cities across BC, including its yearly stop in Victoria.
“This will be our third event here,” said Brownstone. “We only do it once a year, but we love coming back.”
What to expect this year
Shoppers can expect a curated collection of premium vintage fashion, rare finds, and personal collector pieces vendors have been saving specifically for this event.
“Some vendors bring out their best items—stuff from their personal collections or highly collectible pieces,” Brownstone added. “It gives it a bit of a trade show vibe too.”
The event also promises a laid-back atmosphere with organizers carefully managing the flow of attendees to keep the vibe welcoming and the shopping experience enjoyable.
“We’ve learned how important that is—if it’s too busy, it takes away from the fun,” said Brownstone.
Looking ahead: A market in transition
This year’s event comes with a bittersweet twist: it’ll be the last Granville Flea held inside the Victoria Public Market, which is set to close to make way for a No Frills grocery store in early 2026.
“It’s definitely disappointing—it’s been a great home for us,” said Brownstone. “But it’s also an opportunity to find a new space that fits our vibe for future events in Victoria.”
While the team hasn’t confirmed a new venue yet, they’re confident something will come together.
“We’re going to keep working to bring events here. This isn’t the end of Granville Flea in Victoria—just a new chapter.”
The road ahead
As the Granville Flea continues to grow, the team is eyeing expansion into other cities and building more partnerships with major events. They recently completed a successful three-night collaboration with Juno Fest in Vancouver.
“We never thought it would get to where it has already,” said Brownstone. “This whole journey has been a blessing.”
Through it all, the focus remains on community.

“The Granville Flea has always been about building community and creating events for all ages and all people,” said Brownstone. “We strive to help small businesses—and together, we are the biggest market on the west coast.”
