Persistent moisture issues to temporarily close Gordon Head Rec Centre weight room

Share

The weight room in the Gordon Head Recreation Centre (GHRC) will temporarily close for repairs.

This is a required closure, as GHRC has been experiencing a persistent moisture problem between the ceiling and the roof over the weight room.

Repairs will include demolition, remediation and reconstruction, which will begin on May 12th and last around four months.

The District of Saanich has said that because there’s no immediate safety concerns, the weight room will remain open until the closure date.

Programs that require the auditorium, dance studio, multipurpose room and fitness annex facilities won’t be impacted.

Once the closure is in place, users of the GHRC weight room will be able to use the three other Saanich recreation centres: Saanich Commonwealth Place, Cedar Hill Recreation Centre and G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre.

The other centres have well-equipped weight rooms and many other activities for people of all ages.

Happy lifting!
