The Greater Victoria School District (SD61) and the District of Saanich will be hosting an open house on Tuesday, March 11th at Tillicum Elementary School to get feedback on a proposed design for the school’s exterior landscape.
SD61 says the design aims to mitigate growing climate change impacts, incorporate native trees and plants and include an outdoor classroom, depending on if funding comes through for the learning space.
The open house is for all members of the community to share their input. Those who cannot attend can fill out an online survey between March 11th to April 8th.
Those who come to the open house or fill out the survey will learn about the Tillicum Green Infrastructure Project to combat climate change and bring more tree canopy cover to the area.
They will also learn about the potential native tree planting, vegetation, rain gardens and their ability to mitigate climate hazards.
People will also be able to provide feedback on the trees and vegetation and where they will be planted; the potential rain garden; and the outdoor classroom that may be built.
The open house is being held at Tillicum Elementary between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11th.
