Oak Bay Police responded to a report of a violent confrontation over the use of dog leashes near Gyro Park.
On Tuesday, January 7th at around 4:30 p.m., police responded to an assault that occurred on the beach between Gyro Park and the Royal Victoria Yacht Club.
Allegedly, the victim had approached and spoken to a man regarding his off-leash dog.
As the victimwas walking away, the man reportedly tackled him and punched him several times, resulting in minor injuries.
The suspect is described as a 40 to 45-year-old Caucasian man, standing at 5’11” tall, with a slim build and brown hair.
He was accompanied by a large white dog and fled on foot toward the Gyro Park parking lot.
