The altercation occurred just before 4 p.m. on Monday, January 13th on a Route 95 bus near Douglas Street and Hillside Avenue.

According to a statement from BC Transit, the driver was subjected to verbal harassment by an aggressive passenger. When another passenger intervened, the situation escalated into a physical confrontation between the two passengers.

Police said the incident remains under active investigation.

BC Transit confirmed that the altercation caused a temporary disruption to service for the bus involved, though normal operations along Route 95 have since resumed.

“BC Transit takes reports of inappropriate and illegal behaviour within our systems very seriously and works closely with police to follow the legal process for complaints,” the organization said in a statement.

BC Transit highlighted its safety measures in place for incidents like this, including closed-circuit television cameras on most buses, emergency notification protocols for operators, and enhanced radio communication systems.
