West Shore RCMP are appealing to the public for help in their investigation of an alleged hit-and-run and assault that occurred early in the morning on Christmas Eve.
The incident took place at approximately 7:45 a.m. on December 24th, on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Helmcken Road off-ramp in View Royal.
According to police, a grey 2011 Mercedes GLK350 was travelling southbound in the right turn lane when it was side-swiped by a black Volkswagen Jetta.
After both vehicles pulled over to the side of the highway, the driver of the Jetta is alleged to have assaulted the driver of the Mercedes before leaving the scene without providing any information regarding the collision.
The victim, who was operating the Mercedes, sustained minor injuries in the altercation.
The suspect driver is described as a Caucasian man, approximately 40 to 45 years old, standing between 5’10” and 6’ tall.
He has short black hair, a black beard, and wears glasses. At the time, he was reportedly dressed in a black shirt and black jeans. The vehicle he was driving is a black Volkswagen Jetta, though the licence plate is unknown.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
