Victoria streets were the scene of chaos on Christmas Eve as two separate vehicle incidents unfolded within hours of each other.

The first incident occurred late in the morning near Heywood Avenue and Oliphant Avenue, where a car collided with approximately 10 vehicles before the driver abandoned the scene. Police were called to the area shortly before noon, quickly locating the suspect vehicle nearby.

By 12:15 p.m., officers had arrested a female suspect near Fort Street and Fern Street. She remains in custody as investigators piece together what led to the multiple collisions. No injuries were reported, but several vehicles sustained significant damage.

Just hours later, another vehicle incident unfolded, this time near Store Street and Herald Street around 3:30 p.m. Police responded to reports of a stolen truck fleeing the scene.

Police found the vehicle but did not pursue after it ran a red light. Later, they found it stationary and attempted to block it, disabling the police car and causing the stolen vehicle to flee on three wheels.

Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, it was eventually located abandoned outside Victoria, in Saanich.

Dramatic videos of the second incident, shared widely on social media, show the stolen truck speeding recklessly down Douglas Street on three wheels, sparks flying from a blown front tire. The truck can be seen running red lights and endangering other drivers and pedestrians as it barrelled through intersections at high speeds.

No injuries were reported in the second incident, but the investigation is ongoing.

Residents impacted by either of the vehicle incidents are encouraged to contact VicPD to assist with the investigations.

Both events left streets temporarily disrupted, with roadways near the incidents requiring clearing and cleanup.

Police could not confirm if a suspect was arrested in the second incident as the investigation remains ongoing.

More updates are expected as investigations continue.
