As the curtains begin t0 draw to a close on 2024, Google has opened its treasure trove of data, revealing the most sought-after topics, questions, and moments that captivated the hearts and minds of Canadians throughout the year.

Canadians may love hockey, but 2024 proved we’re just as invested in global soccer as the Euro Cup scored the top spot for trending news and events.

Other big searches included the US Elections, a political rollercoaster that had Canadians watching their southern neighbours, and the provincial BC Elections closer to home.

Natural disasters also loomed large in our collective consciousness, with searches for Hurricane Milton and the devastating Jasper Fire. Labour strikes by the LCBO, Air Canada, and Canada Post rounded out the list, reflecting a year of significant workplace upheaval.
