Have you ever seen and heard dozens of tubas play Christmas tunes together? Well, now’s your chance, Victoria!
No one can deny the power and beauty behind the mighty tuba instrument—now imagine what experiencing around 100 or more playing at once must be like!
The beloved 46th annual Tuba Christmas event will take place at Market Square this Saturday, December 14th at 1 p.m., conducted by Scott MacInnes.
The group is made up of tubas and the family of instruments, including euphoniums, baritones and potentially Sousaphones and helicons.
“Tuba Christmas has become the kick off to the season for many people in Victoria,” MacInnes told Victoria Buzz.
“The sonorous sound of tubas playing Christmas music can’t help but bring a smile even to the Grinch.”
So, make your way downtown and allow the dulcet tones and impressive melodies to sweep over you and lift you right into the holiday spirit!
Donations will be accepted for the Times Colonist Christmas Fund, a charity that assists the people most in need in the Greater-Victoria community.

In case you were curious, Tuba Christmas dates back to 1974 where it originated in New York City.
In fact, concerts now take place in over 200 cities worldwide! This year marks the 49th year of Tuba Christmas’ existence, and its 46th year in Victoria!
Whether you’re passing by while Christmas shopping or making your way along your afternoon commute, stop and enjoy the music as this holiday performance is one you won’t want to miss.
Tuba Christmas comes but once a year!
