Comox Valley RCMP are requesting the public’s help following a hit-and-run incident on that left a skateboarder injured.
At around 5:20 p.m. on November 11th, RCMP officers responded to a report of a man on a skateboard who had been struck by a vehicle near the Gas N Go on Comox Road.
According to the victim, he was passing the business when a vehicle turning left into the parking lot hit him.
The driver of the vehicle briefly stopped and offered to take the victim to the hospital, but fled the scene after hearing approaching sirens, heading eastbound on Comox Road.
The suspect driver is described as a Caucasian man in his 50s, approximately 6 feet tall, with an average build and light brown thinning or balding hair.
The vehicle involved is believed to be a black Chrysler 200, a mid-2010s model.
While no obvious damage was noticed by witnesses, the RCMP believe there may be scratches or small dents on the car, as the skateboarder reportedly went over the hood upon impact.
RCMP investigators are urging anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to review their recordings for any images of the suspect vehicle or additional information.
The victim, a 60-year-old Comox Valley resident, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
