Joanne Thomson’s Book Launch

Join the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in celebrating accomplished artist Joanne Thomson with her book launch!

300 Mason Jars, Preserving History will be an official part of Heritage House Publishing’s fall lineup, and attendees will get a sneak peek at this intricate and complex body of work.

In a media release, Thomson describes this project began as a way to understand the history of her rural BC family. As the story became larger and more tangled, she found a way to focus the important pieces by placing objects in mason jars.

She’d then paint them as concise still life images, allowing the story to evolve in a natural way that honoured the memories.
