Everyone deserves a warm, delicious home-cooked meal.

That’s exactly what Brian Cox, the kitchen manager at Our Place, intends to deliver next week at his 35th Thanksgiving meal for those in need within our community.

Cox and his team of staff and volunteers are going to be roasting turkeys, mashing potatoes, thickening gravy, seasoning stuffing and steaming vegetables in preparation for the big day.

Additionally, Rogers’ Chocolates have donated some mouth-watering chocolates to hand out for dessert!

According to a media release, Cox estimates that he has cooked and served over 15,750,000 meals since he began working for the Our Place kitchen.

“Everybody loves a good holiday meal,” says Our Place CEO Julian Daly.

“Especially since Brian and his staff never disappoint. It’s also great to welcome local dignitaries who join us to serve people who are homeless, and those who are housed but struggling to make ends meet.”

The meal will be served on Tuesday, October 8th from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., located at the Our Place Community Centre on Pandora Avenue.

“Our Place has always been there for people going through difficult times—regardless of the reason,” says Daly.

“And more than ever, people who thought they would never need our services are finding their way to our doors.”

Additionally, a second Thanksgiving meal will be prepared and served by Gordy Dodd, who is well-known in the community for his contributions to Our Place, on Friday, October 11th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
