What likely began as a regular Saturday, quickly took an exciting turn!
Sidney resident John Sutton purchased himself a Lotto 6/49 ticket from the Save-On-Foods on Beacon Avenue in Sidney, and what came next was life-changing.
Upon checking his ticket, he realized that he was the lucky winner of the $500,000 prize from Lotto 6/49’s Extra draw.
“I checked [the ticket] myself and I couldn’t believe all of the zeroes,” exclaimed Sutton.
He first shared the news with his daughter, who had just left for Regina the day before. According to Sutton, she was so excited she “almost fainted” and his son was very excited as well.
When asked what he was planning on doing with the money, he mentioned that he already had a trip to Hawaii booked, but thanks to the win, he’ll be able to extend his visit.
“Going to Hawaii is my happiest place!” he shared.
“I am very excited and grateful!”
According to a media release, so far this year, BC lottery players have redeemed more than $33 million in winnings from the Extra draw, and more than $122 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
