A man who was reported missing in Port Alberni after failing to return home has been found deceased.
On August 30th, Port Alberni RCMP responded to a report of a missing man who did not return to his family’s home as expected after an evening out.
He was last seen around 1 a.m., leaving a friend’s residence.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. the same day, the man was discovered down a steep 50-foot embankment, having sustained fatal injuries.
The Port Alberni Fire Department and Search and Rescue (SAR) teams were called to the scene to recover the body from the rocky terrain.
SAR utilized a helicopter to assist in the recovery due to the difficult location.
RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) attended the scene to conduct an examination.
The family of the deceased has been notified, and the incident remains under investigation.
The identity of the victim was not released.
