This lucky Victoria resident celebrates a huge lottery win!
Stanley Daniells purchased a Lotto Max draw on PlayNow, which was drawn on August 13th, and received an email from them that he was initially skeptical about.
“I got an email saying that my PlayNow account was over the limit,” said Daniells.
“I thought it might be a scam, but then I checked my account and thought instead I must be dreaming.”
The email let him know that he won the $1 million prize money.
Daniells said he received this wonderful news on his girlfriend’s birthday and was excited to share the news with her first.
According to him, she said it was ‘the best birthday present ever!’
When asked what Daniells intends to do with the prize money, he said he’ll be thrilled to pay off his mortgage and finish some home renovations. Some holiday plans may also be on the docket too.
“[It’s] surreal. It means I will be debt free, and it bumps up my retirement fund.”
According to the BCLC, so far in 2024, lottery players have redeemed more than $100 million from Lotto Max—a nationwide lottery game drawn after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays.
This win comes just one week after it was announced a Sidney resident had won $500,000 playing Lotto 6/49. John Sutton purchased himself his ticket at the Save-On-Foods on Beacon Avenue in Sidney.
“I checked [the ticket] myself and I couldn’t believe all of the zeroes,” exclaimed Sutton.
