North Saanich Flavour Trails Festival
The District of North Saanich and Destination Greater Victoria are once again presenting the North Saanich Flavour Trails Festival—a community-focused event that celebrates all things local.
It will take place on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th, featuring a mix of over 18 vendors—taking visitors all over Saanich to explore the rich and delicious venues our farmers and creators have to offer!
This self-guided flavour tour presents local farmers, fishers, food producers, chefs, vintners, brewers, cider makers, and distillers.
All you have to do is take a look at the map (it includes the open hours for each location) and begin your adventure. The order in which you do everything is up to you.

Victoria Shamrocks Playoffs
The Victoria Shamrocks take on the Langley Thunder in Game 1 of the best-of-seven WLA Championship Finals at the Q Centre at 6:30 p.m.

Tour de Victoria
Cheer on the cyclists taking part in Tour de Victoria cycling event!
This Saturday, August 17th, the streets of Greater Victoria will host the annual Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria cycling event, attracting nearly 2,500 cyclists from across Canada and the United States.
Starting and ending at Victoria’s Inner Harbour, adjacent to BC’s Legislative Buildings, onlookers will be able to catch the action across the Greater Victoria area (be advised that traffic flow will be impacted).

Free-B Film Festival
This community-favourite film festival has been bringing a huge lineup of free outdoor movies to Beacon Hill Park!
The Free-B Film Festival features a mix of classics and cult classics—all you have to do is bring a blanket and some snacks.
This Saturday will feature The Last Unicorn.
As mentioned, there is no cost to enjoy the movie, admission is free. Just make sure you pack out what you bring!

Pacific FC Game
Gather with pals and whoop and holler for your local Pacific FC as they take on Atlético Ottawa!
Held at the Starlight Stadium, it’s the perfect atmosphere to unwind and feel a part of a large community event.
Ticket prices vary but general admission is $32.

Mayfair Summer Block Party
You won’t want to miss this exceptionally fun, family-friendly summer party at the Mayfair Shopping Centre!
Their Summer Block Party will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring live performances, a curated market, bouncy castles, face painting and more.
There will also be a beer garden!

Adopt a Dog from Bosley’s
Bosley’s on Burnside is hosting a puppy adoption event for their ‘Nature Litter’—featuring an abundance of adorable puppies with nature-inspired names.
Come and meet these 9-week-old bundles of cuteness, and maybe give them a forever home!
Adoption applications can be filled out prior to the event by messaging From Stray to Stay.

Saanichton Free Movies
The Saanichton Village Association is hosting two free movie screenings in the month of August, and everyone’s invited.
They’ll be held at Saanich Fairgrounds, and this Saturday features Back to the Future.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie will start at dusk!
In the meantime, there will be games to enjoy, as well as popcorn, food and cold drinks available for purchase.
Don’t forget your blankets and/or chairs for the best movie-watching experience!

Langford Show & Shine
Witness Goldstream Avenue come alive with a vibrant mix of sights, sounds and flavours!
Explore the glitz and glam of classic cars at the Langford Show & Shine while enjoying live performances from talented local musicians, face painters, games tent, and checking out local makers and businesses.
Also attending will the ‘That Bubble Guy,’ who is well known for his mesmerizing bubble shows that will surely leave people of all ages in awe.

Fibrations in Fernwood
Celebrate all things fibre with the Fernwood community during the 12th annual Fibrations festival!
It’s free and open to anyone, so come and check it out.

East West Mural Fest — ECAH
Since 2021, ECAH has collaborated with the Esquimalt and Vic West communities, wall owners, businesses, and artists to create vibrant public art celebrating local culture. Taking place from August 18th to September 2nd across Esquimalt and Vic West!
The festival features hands-on workshops, mural painting, and plenty of chances to get involved. Check out the 2024 programming, muralists, sites, artist calls, and more below!
