In a joint celebration this weekend, the Art Farm in Saanich is hosting a family-friendly outdoor concert for their fifth anniversary as well as the operator’s 50th birthday.
The Art Farm is a community-focussed hub located at 2920 Tillicum Road where musicians and artists of any discipline can utilize affordable space in order to practice their craft.
Stefan Pasta is the man behind the Art Farm and he is a celebrated musician with a doctorate in music science.
Pasta’s colleague and collaborator, Imogen Cookie-Bailey told Victoria Buzz that this event is not only being held to celebrate him, but also the ongoing legacy of his efforts in the arts community.
“He is an interesting man to say the least,” said Cookie-Bailey.
Before launching the Art Farm, Pasta had a long career as a studio drummer and drum tech who has toured with some of the biggest names in the business, including Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister.
With the Art Farm he wanted to allow fellow musicians and artists to have accessible spaces to practice.

“The Art Farm is really a hub for musicians, it’s a hub for anyone, whether they are getting started in their first band who need a place to practice or if it’s an established artist,” Cookie-Bailey explained.
“For the community it’s really become a major epicentre of music, creativity, writing and creation.”
The bands that will be playing the fifth anniversary show/50th birthday celebration are:
- broadband
- Daisy Strangler
- CYBORG
- Hounds of Cuchulain
- Wolf Venom
- Buzzard Asylum
- Regular People
- Rock City Riot
- And a special appearance by the legendary Darth Fiddler!
Aside from bands, there will also be a dunk tank that welcomes anyone to get wet if they dare, a bouncy castle, corn hole, oversize Jenga, connect four and Kerplunk.
Several food vendors will also be on site, such as The Hot Dog Guys, Kuku’s Indian Cuisine, Hazel’s Ice Cream and Howl Brewing will be hosting a beer garden for those who are over 19-years-old and bring adequate identification.
Additionally, this event is being held as a fundraiser for one of Pasta’s dogs, Darby.
Pasta rescued Darby from a puppy mill where she was being forced to birth litter after litter of pups.
Now she requires a surgery that Pasta is seeking community aid in paying—so a bottle drive will also be held on site, or people who wish to do so can donate to Darby’s GoFundMe page.
